France Opens Doors to Indian Students with “Classes Internationales” – A Prestigious Pathway to Higher Education
Indian students aiming to pursue higher education in France now have a unique and exciting opportunity through the Classes Internationales programme — a special one-year foundation course offered across 35 French universities.
Tailored for high school graduates from India, this initiative is designed to help students prepare for and gain direct admission into some of France’s most respected universities, engineering schools, and management institutions.
What is “Classes Internationales”?
The Classes Internationales is essentially a foundation year, lasting from one semester to a full academic year, during which students receive academic preparation and language training. Upon successful completion, students will have direct access to over 200 undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields such as science, humanities, engineering, and business — all conducted in French.
Who Can Apply?
You are eligible if:
- You have completed (or will complete by summer 2025) your high school education,
- You will not be a minor upon entering France,
- You have at least an A2 level in French (or are beginning at A0 level),
- You meet the academic criteria set by your selected programme.
Importantly, the programme is open to students at all levels of French proficiency, making it highly inclusive.
Application Deadlines
- March 31, 2025 – for students with no prior knowledge of French (A0 level).
- May 31, 2025 – for students with A2-level proficiency or higher.
Next Steps After the Foundation Year
- After completing Classes Internationales,
- A Licence (Bachelor’s degree) in France takes 3 years.
- A Master’s degree takes an additional 2 years.
